Episode Summary
The episode starts after Ally and Trish come from gym class, sweaty and tired. Austin and Dez join them, and Austin is excited for his physics homework, which is to build a paper airplane. However, he doesn't seem excited once Ally tells him that he'll be learning aerodynamics. Meanwhile, Trish is nervous because Jace, a guy Team Austin met on tour in Albuquerque, New Mexico, is coming to Miami to visit Trish. Eventually, she admits she likes Jace. Unfortunately, he overhears her confession.
Since Trish is nervous about going to dinner with Jace, Austin suggests that she talk to Dr. Cupid, someone who gives love advice on Marino High's school website. She refuses, especially after Dez offers to be her "Love Whisperer". Austin and Ally step in, giving Trish advice for their date. They tell her to not speak what's on her mind, wear something special, laugh at everything Jace says, and to not call other people names; basically, to not be herself. Trish takes their advice. When Trish arrives at Shredder's Beach Club for her date with Jace, she walks awkwardly with her heels. She is wearing a fancy blue dress, as opposed to Jace, who is wearing casual clothing. She greets him by giving air kisses on his cheeks. She then laughs at him for playing with the breadsticks at their table. Jace is starting to feel uncomfortable. Carrie, a waitress comes over to take their orders. Before she can even take the couple's orders, she answers a call from her mom. Carrie tells her mom that she has two customers on a date - and she doesn't think it's going well. While she is still talking to her mother, she pats Trish on the head, wishes the two good luck, and walks away - without taking their order.
After the disastrous date, Trish is devastated. She and Ally talk in the practice room. Again, Ally suggests consulting Dr. Cupid, and Trish finally gives in. Trish emails him what's going on between her and Jace and for his advice, and gets a reply just seconds later. His advice is the opposite of what Austin and Ally gave; he tells Trish that she was trying too hard on her date and that she should be herself. He quotes, "If he don't like you for who you is, he ain't worth it." Meanwhile, Ally helps Austin with his paper airplane, which isn't going so well. She offers to help him, and he accepts. Trish and Jace come in Sonic Boom, and it appears that Trish took Dr. Cupid's advice. Trish and Jace joke around comfortably, and he leaves to get her a frozen yogurt. Trish tells Ally how much she loved Dr. Cupid's advice, while Dez tries to keep in his laughter in behind her. When Dez reveals that he's Dr. Cupid, the rest of Team Austin is shocked.
However, since Dez's advice worked, Trish offers to help him. She sets up a radio interview for him at Shredder's Beach Club to give his love advice. At the interview, things seem to be going smoothly. However, after Dez gave out advice, he's asked if he was "a ladies man", which he wasn't. He admits that he's never been in love, had a girlfriend, or been on a date. Therefore, DJ Sonny Smooth says he's disqualified on giving love advice since Dez's never been in love himself. DJ Sonny Smooth also states that Dr. Cupid is a big fraud. After Ally finishes making Austin's paper airplane for physics class, Dez comes in, dejected about his recent interview. He takes off his Dr. Cupid costume and gives up on giving love advice. Austin, Ally, and Trish later find Dez in the practice room, playing piano and singing a melancholy love song. They try to cheer him up by saying all the good traits Dez has, and eventually, it works. Dez goes out and tries to get himself a girlfriend. Dez's quest for a girlfriend doesn't quite work out though. He gives up on love once again.
Meanwhile, the rest of Team Austin form a plan. Austin suggests that they trick him into giving himself love advice. The plan seems to work. Ally reads a fake note, asking Dr. Cupid for advice. Dr. Cupid, now known as Dez, says that love can't be forced. "You have to let love come to you," he said. Team Austin then reveal that they tricked Dez into giving himself love advice, but Dez couldn't be helped, saying, "Even I can't help me." He walks to Shredder's Beach Club.
At the club, he meets Carrie, the same waitress who served Jace and Trish at the beginning of the episode. Dez and Carrie bond, especially after finding out that they're called some kind of "Love" title; Dez is the Love Whisperer, and Carrie is the Love Robot, even though no one calls them those names. Eventually, Dez goes to leave to watch a zombie romance movie, Tears of the Dead. He indirectly asks Carrie on a date at the movies, which she showed up for. Their date is a success, and Dez claims it was the best night of his life. Austin also got a good grade on his physics assignment. In the end, Austin made his own paper airplane, because he felt guilty for getting a grade on a plane that Ally made and felt that it was better to have achieved something himself than to get a good grade: As it turns out, he got both. Meanwhile, Trish asks "Dr. Cupid" for love advice again, this time, advice for a long-distance relationship.
By the end of the episode, everyone is happy. Austin and Ally fly their planes, Ally flying the plane she originally made for Austin. Trish and Jace share a smoothie, which Trish steals for a second before sharing again. Dez and Carrie become a couple. He gives Carrie flowers, pizza, and a goat, following his own love advice. After seeing all this (especially the goat), Carrie happily exclaims that Dez does like her before hugging him.
