Episode Summary
In the beginning of the episode, Nelson comes into Sonic Boom wearing lots of coats, believing that the person with the most coats becomes school president. Ally corrects him that it's "votes", not "coats" to become president. Nelson, disappointed, leaves as Trish says "That school's in trouble if that kid wins". Austin and Dez walk in and ask the girls if they want to go with them to Miami Invention Convention, as Dez's dad has a booth there showing off his latest invention, Shirt Napkins ("Shirtnap" for short). They pull off their coats to reveal the Shirtnaps underneath, complete with Tiekins to clean the shirts afterward. The girls find it very absurd.
Just then, Jimmy walks in with exciting news: Austin has been invited to perform at the World Music Festival. To prepare for it, he tells them to write a new song, teasing that they might even be able to afford a cleaner shirt for Austin if they sell enough copies (unknowingly referencing the Shirtnaps). Later, Austin is on the phone with Dez while waiting for Ally in the practice room, saying he'll meet him at the convention. Ally enters with a bag full of songwriting supplies ready to get to work. Austin, eager to head to the convention, brushes off Ally's offer to start working on the song together and tells her to go ahead without him. Ally's sarcastically vents her frustration about this, but Austin is oblivious to it and says he trusts her before leaving.
Later at Sonic Boom, Trish enters and complains to Ally about how much work she has to do at Rico's Tacos. Ally says that she doesn't start work until that night, but Trish says that just thinking about all the work is exhausting for her. Austin and Dez return from the Invention Convention, where they they show the girls the new inventions, including 4D glasses (glasses that allow the wearer to taste whatever they look at) and the Tune-Pro 3000. Austin says the Tune-Pro 3000 can cut song-writing time in half and help them take a short-cut on writing the new song. Ally however doesn't feel comfortable using a machine and write songs, believing that you can't take shortcuts to creativity. She thanks Austin for the gift, but wants to write the song the traditional way. Austin frantically tries to convince Ally that the Tune-Pro 3000 can save them a lot of time, but as he turns around, he accidentally hits the machine on the stairs, causing it to fall and break.
In the practice room, Austin attempts to fix it, but as he turns it back on and tries to restart it, he gets shocked. He wakes up in the year 2345, 332 years in the future. He's shocked to find that everything is white and devoid of colour. He runs out the practice room and asks Dez what's going on. Dez is trying out the new 8D glasses that let him feel the emotion of whatever he looks at. Austin and asks what happened to 4D glasses, which Dez tells him they haven't used 4D glasses in 300 years. Austin is confused and tells Dez he might sound crazy, but a moment ago it was 2013 and now Dez is saying it's the year 2345. However, Dez thinks its ridiculous that Austin took a 300 year nap. The last thing Austin remembers is getting shocked by the Tune-Pro and says maybe it's messing with his head.
He asks what happened to all the instruments that used to be in Sonic Boom. Dez pushes a button that reveals a museum display with all the instruments, saying no one knows how they work anymore and wonders how people wrote music before the Tune Pro 21 Million. Austin is amazed and knew that the Tune-Pro would catch on. Dez says that after the Tune Pro 21 Million came many other inventions, like the Scribble-Pro to do homework, the Chore-Pro to make beds, the Strength-Pro to do your workouts and the Thought-Pro to study for the intergalactic history test. He shows Austin the Strength-Pro, where he gets ripped in his right arm. Austin is amazed by the future.
Ally walks in and says hello to Dez, booping his finger, presumably as their version of a handshake. She reminds Austin that they still need to write the song for the now-Galactic Music Festival. Austin says that they better get to work on it now, but Ally says there's no rush, as they have the Tune-Pro, saying it's the best shortcut to creativity (the opposite of what she said earlier in the episode). She tries to boop Austin's finger, which confuses him but he tentatively goes along with it. They go to the mall to meet with Trish, who works at Future Mart. Dez orders a rather long meal for himself, which annoys Trish as she complains how much work that will be. She presses a button on a screen next to her and the food automatically appears. As Dez takes his food, she complains that it's the hardest job she's ever had. Austin tries to order to some pancakes, but Trish says she's going on a break.
Suddenly, there is a loud bell chiming noise. When Austin asks Ally what's going on, she replies that the president is about to speak. On the big TV, Nelson is shown to be the president. He says hello to Miami and everyone in the mall raises their arms and says "What's up, President Nelson?". Austin is very confused that Nelson is president. Nelson welcomes everyone to the Galactic Music Festival, accidentally thinking it was a Galactic Movie Festival and bringing a big tub of popcorn. He let's everyone have a two-minute dance block, to which Austin finds out that everyone dances rather strangely, tilting their heads side-to-side as though they have water in their ears.
Austin and Ally enter the practice room. Austin says they have to write a new song for the festival, as the one they heard in the mall isn't even music, only strange sounds. Ally says that's what music is meant to be, "random noise to fill the silence", to which Austin disagrees. He says it's supposed to make you feel things and dances to show her. Ally is amazed and asks what that was. Austin replies it's how he feels when he hears real music. Ally says they can try and write something different and goes to the Tune-Pro. After programing the Tune-Pro, she shows the new song to Austin. Predictably it's the same song heard in the mall, just with "Move Move" instead of "Dance Dance" and Austin says he doesn't want to use the machine to make the song anymore. Ally says people love the Tune-Pro and that Jimmy, still Austin's manager, will not want to change that. Austin says he'll go talk to Jimmy and believes there's a much better way to make music than the Tune-Pro 21 Million. He meets Jimmy at Food Mart, saying he can't perform this kind of music as "doesn't make me want to do this" and also dances as an example. Jimmy says if Austin doesn't want to perform the music, he doesn't have to and he'll just replace him. After Austin is confused, Jimmy introduces him to the Austin-bot, saying that it's going to make performers unnecessary. Austin stands their stunned. He meets Trish and Ally back at Sonic Boom, who ask how his talk with Jimmy went. Austin tells them about Jimmy replacing him with Austin-bot, with Dez saying he's more handsome than the real Austin. Trish says sorry to him and asks if Austin-bot has a manager. Austin complains that the future sucks, no colour, no excitement, it's all the same. Ally says that's how things have always been, but Austin disagrees and says he can prove it. He tells the her they're going to pull an all nighter and write the song the old fashioned way. He instructs Ally to grab the keyboard, but she doesn't know what it is. He walks over to the museum display, picks up the keyboard and hands it to Ally. He's going to teach them all how to play instruments. Dex picks up a ladder and asks if Austin can teach him to play it. Austin says he'll get back to that and asks Trish to make some colourful clothing for the performance from her job. Trish says it's against the rules and she might get fired, which she excitedly says she's on it. He next asks Dez to stop Austin-bot from performing, to use his giant arm to crush him. Dez hesitates and asks what if Austin-bot is stronger, faster and smarter than him. Austin says he's not going to lie, he's all those things.
Back in the practice room, Austin is teaching Ally to play the keyboard. She gets a few notes right and he tells her "With a little practice you--" but gets cut off as Ally plays a full scale perfectly and adds "--totally don't need my help". Ally is surprised and asks what happened. Austin tells her that she was "rockin' the keyboard," Ally admits that she didn't know she had that kind of talent in her. She's always felt the music inside her, but never knew how to bring it out until Austin came. Now that Ally knows how to play, they start writing the song and Austin says they need some chords. Ally plays a melody to Austin, which he likes, before telling her they next need to come up with some lyrics. Exited and inspired, Ally plays the same melody again with lyrics, except only singing the words "Dance Dance" repeatedly in the same deep monotone voice. Austin interrupts and says they can't be any words, they have to come from the heart. He asks her what the last powerful emotion she felt was, she says love. Thinking she means him, Austin shyly asks "Really?", but Ally answers she loves her new seat cushion she bought as it's comfy. Austin goes with love as the theme and asks Ally what's great about love. She answers that love doesn't fade over time and is timeless. Austin plays the melody again and sings "This love is never gonna fade. We are timeless, we are timeless". An impressed Ally says that's incredible and asks Austin where he learnt to write songs that way. Austin replies. Austin chuckles, smiles and says that a good friend taught him (meaning Ally herself). Ally smiles too and asks if it was Trish, Austin says no. They get back to focusing on writing the song.
At Sonic Boom, Dez and Austin-bot are playing video games. Austin wakes up, comes out of the practice room and sees them. He pulls Dez aside and says "You're supposed to crush him, not let him crush your high score". Dez tells him he was going to, but they started hanging out and became friends. Austin tells Austin-bot that he's gonna perform himself tonight. Austin-bot says that it's big break and burning toast is no longer his problem (he was originally a toaster). Austin says that the fans are expecting Austin Moon and there's only one real him. Austin-bot mocks him saying he's the better version. They start a dance-off in which Austin causes the Austin-bot to malfunction. A distraught Dez runs over to him and tells him he's his best friend. Austin says he talking to the robot, Dez says he knows.
Jimmy comes up to Austin and Trish talking at Future Mart. He thinks its the Austin-bot until Austin says its the real him. Jimmy says he thought Austin didn't want to perform and is confused. Austin tells Jimmy he wants to show the galaxy the future of music. Jimmy says it better be good as President Nelson is here they all raise their arms to hail the president.
Austin tells Trish it's time to perform, with Trish still complaining that it's so much work. The whole gang gets teleported to the stage with their instruments. They perform Timeless and halfway through the song, the white clothes that everyone was wearing are transformed into colorful clothing. Everyone enjoys the song.
After the song, Jimmy congratulates him and says he guesses they don't need the Tune-Pro anymore. Austin agrees and touches the Tune-Pro, where he gets shocked by it again. He awakens and finds himself in the practice room back in the year 2013; it was all a dream. Austin asks what happened and Trish says they called the paramedic as he got a "pretty nasty shock from that stupid Tune-Pro", but he should be okay. Austin rushes to Ally and says they need to finish the song without the Tune-Pro. Confused, Ally says she thought he loved the Tune-Pro, Austin says he hates it and says "one minute you're using the machine to write a song and the next minute, music's just a bunch of beeps and books and Nelson's president". Concerned, Ally says maybe they should call the paramedic back in. Dez asks him what he dreamt about anyway, Austin says the future but that he'll time them about it all later as him and Ally have to get to work on the song. As he kicks Dez and Trish out, Dez says he has to hear more about the future and asks him a bunch of questions. Austin shuts the door in the face.
Later at Sonic Boom Dez comes out of the practice room wanting to show his new suit to the gang. It's the same white suit from Austin's dream. Trish also says that Iceland sent a new remix of Austin's song, the same weird song from the dream which Dez and Trish dance to the same way by tilting their heads. Alarmed and scared, Austin says it can't be happening and starts to run off. He meets with Nelson who says he's just got elected President. Austin screams and runs from Sonic Boom, which Nelson saying his principal had the same reaction.

- This is the final appearance of Nelson (Cole Sand), though he makes a cameo in "Videos & Villains". Presumably, Nelson also appeared in "Road Trips & Reunions" where Ally imagined Austin as one of her students who wore a similar outfit as Nelson and even quoted "I'm here for my sousaphone lesson." while holding a tuba.
- When Dez asks Austin if the Austin-Bot was stronger, faster and smarter than him, he was actually making a reference to the Disney XD original show Lab Rats which revolved around 3 Bionic Superhumans who were stronger, faster and smarter than any human.
- The end of the episode suggests Austin's dream may not be entirely a dream and that the future could truly be that way.
Goofs
- When Trish shows Ally her new ring, Ally says that it was a nice shade of white, but later on in the episode, you see that Trish's ring was actually beige.
- When Dez is saying "I know" to Austin after Austin said that's the robot, you can see the "robot" blink.
- It is curious why Team Austin isn't old or dead in 322 years in the future (this is technically not a goof because it was just a dream).
- The future is only supposed to be white, but the Tune-Pro and the pull sign on the door were black. There were also silver and blue lights everywhere.
- You can obviously tell that when Austin is talking to the Austin-Bot that he's talking to a stunt double because the hair does not look like Ross' hair.
- When Team Austin were performing "Timeless" Trish left the guitar and it fell down but, in the next scene it was settled straight.
