Episode Summary

The episode beings with Ally struggling to balance her fame and music career with teaching music to her young students. Her new student Lily is uninspired by music and only signed up because she "can meet with Ally Dawson for a whole hour every Wednesday--can I have an autograph?!"

Meanwhile, with his music career on hold, Austin tries a lot of hobbies but doesn't find any of them as fulfilling as music. Under pressure from his parents and with no excuse to say no, Austin reluctantly agrees to work at Moon's Mattress Kingdom. Mike and Mimi are ecstatic that their "little prince" is finally joining the family business, especially when Austin's lack of "pep" and sob story convinces a cheapskate customer to buy a water bed from the Moons instead of from a discount store online.

Ally is exhausted from giving music lessons and writing and recording songs. When another student shows up for a lesson that Ally forgot about, Austin volunteers to fill in for her and soon starts teaching at Sonic Boom regularly in his spare time away from Moon's Mattress Kingdom.

Team Austin realize that the hobby Austin was looking for this whole was teaching music. Austin decides to quit his job at his parents' store, but before he can tell them, Mike and Mimi surprise him with a promotion to the position of "King of Moon's Mattress Kingdom." Afraid of disappointing his parents and spoiling their happiness, Austin decides to take Trish's advice on getting fired.

However, his attempts only backfire. When he falls asleep on the job, Mike and Mimi praise him for his brilliance in "demonstrating how comfortable our mattresses are." When he tries snacking on the job and getting crumbs all over the mattresses, his parents call him a genius for finding "the perfect way to demonstrate these new Suck-U-Tron mattresses with built-in vacuum hoses."

Lily, inspired by a chat with Ally, decides that she wants to be a famous singer and asks Ally to get her there. Ally suddenly comes up with the idea of starting a music school with her friends to teach kids everything there is to know about making it in the music business. She meets with the others at Moon's Mattress Kingdom and explains her idea, and they make plans to start their own "music factory."

Meanwhile, they have been busy switching the price tags on all the mattress as part of their ongoing plan to get Austin fired from the store. Dez punctures a water bed with a stapler gun, and they scramble to save the store from being ruined. Unfortunately, the Suck-U-Tron vacuum hose that Dez uses to collect all the water is attached to an inflatable mattress, which pops and floods the entire store.

Mike and Mimi Moon are furious, but they tell Austin he is going to stay late and clean up the mess instead of firing him. He finally tells them that he quits because his heart is in making music. They are shocked and disappointed but promise to support and be proud of him no matter what he does.

Lester Dawson allows Team Austin to transform Sonic Boom into their new music factory. The episode ends with Dez mistakenly assuming that they are destroying Sonic Boom (instead of just redecorating) and trashing the practice room, the store, and Lester's car.
