Season 4 of Austin & Ally was renewed on April 25, 2014. After a series of social media campaigns from superfans, the teen sitcom was finally renewed.[2]

In an official statement, Disney Channel's Executive Vice President Adam Bonnett said, "The strength of this series helped make 2013 Disney Channel's highest-rated year ever among tweens, an audience that is invested in the 'Austin & Ally' stories and the fun they experience on a journey with the characters. We're looking forward to delivering many more engaging stories soon." [2]

The writers started working again on August 18, 2014 and production for the season began on October 13, 2014. [3] Season 4 premiered on January 18, 2015 at 8 pm ET/PT.

On February 6, Laura Marano, who portrays Ally Dawson, revealed that Season 4 would be the show's last season. She also revealed that the series finale would air in early 2016.[4]

Premise

After spending the summer apart, Austin, Ally, Trish and Dez are back and ready for senior year! Austin focuses on finishing school and just being a normal kid while Ally takes a break from touring to work on her next album. Trish questions her future as a manager while Dez contemplates going back to film school in L.A. But all future plans are put on hold as the gang works to open their own pop star academy to teach kids about performing and making music.

  • This season makes Austin & Ally the 6th Disney Channel series in Disney Channel history to make it to Season 4 and the 5th live-action series to make it to Season 4 (preceded by Jessie, That's So Raven, Hannah Montana, Phineas and Ferb, Wizards of Waverly Place, and Good Luck Charlie).
    • This season also makes Austin & Ally the first Disney Channel series with a four-member cast, main characters who are not a family and a male co-lead to receive a fourth season.
  • There is a new set replacing Sonic Boom this season, the Austin & Ally Music Factory.

    Intro - Season 4 - Austin & Ally

    This season introduces a new version of the Can't Do It Without You intro sequence, featuring the cast as they appear now and clips from episodes in Seasons 2 and 3 (much like most other Disney Channel shows have, such as JESSIE, Girl Meets World, and K.C. Undercover). Additionally, it now features Laura Marano singing alongside Ross Lynch.
  • In a TVLine interview with Laura Marano, it stated that the series finale would air in early 2016.[5]
  • An EP, titled Austin & Ally: Take It From The Top, was released featuring five of the songs that will be sung by Laura Marano and Ross Lynch in the season.
  • The cast had their final table read of Austin & Ally on April 13, 2015.

Also, there was another crossover with I Didn't Do It, where only Logan Watson (Austin North) and Delia Delfano (Sarah Gilman) made an appearance.
  • "Seniors & Señors" didn't air in Latin America (except Brazil) due to the plot not making sense with all of the characters constantly speaking Spanish.
  • On December 2, 2015, it was exactly 4 years since Austin & Ally debuted on Disney Channel.
